Marshalling

'twas my first day of marshalling today.

The first day I actually leave early to get to where I need to be and I am stuck on the tube for 15 minutes waiting for a defective train ahead to be moved on! Luckily when I arrived the judge I was shadowing wasn't sitting.

I am currently sitting in on a Sex Offence case, gruesome to say the least. ABE videos are horrible and slightly soul destroying. Trying to remain emotionless throughout an outbreak of pure sadness, is really really difficult. I am not sure I am attracted to doing sex offence cases.

I have been given more responsibility on the research I am working on, whilst exciting is also a bit shit scary in case I mess it up!!

I am trying to decide the future of this blog, there have been a few comments left over time that indicate that people know who I am, whilst I don't particularly have a problem with a select few knowing my real identity, I am not so keen as for people to come onto the blog and recognise its me writing!! I shall either be editing/deleting the more unsuitable posts or if it comes to the worst perhaps deleting the blog and moving on.

My Dear Lost,

Sex offences are, indeed, singularly distressing, though where they are related to children dealing with them can become almost unbearable, even for the most Objective of souls. I once shadowed a Barrister who dealt almost exclusively with such cases - but there were times that even she felt she had to step away from such exacting work and do one or two other things of legal interest in order to refocus herself so that she could carry on. Much kudos to her, I say, because I couldn't do it.

It's nice when you are given more responsibility as a research assistant - your guy must be totally confident in both you and in your abilities, as am I, so you simply AREN'T going to mess anything up! :)

As to your Blog, I BESEECH you not to give it up!! Delete posts, enable comment moderation, do ANYTHING, but dont Delete yourself!!! If ANYONE tries to out you, simply deny that you are the author of the blog - after all, how can anyone actually PROVE it?

DONT DO THAT! PLEASE!

Surely it won't come to you having to delete your blog, Lost?!?

Seems like overkill to me!

If it makes you feel any better, I have absolutely no idea who you are.

RE Sex Offence cases, I've always wanted to be strong enough to be able to deal with them, because its so important that somebody does those cases, but I haven't yet come across any to find out how I'd cope. This week will be tough for you, but you'll learn a great deal about yourself in the process.

TO BE HONEST I THINK YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF YOUR BLOG! AND SURELY ITS A COMPLIMENT WHEN AMON SAYS THAT YOU ARE 'SEXY' SO DONT GET YOUR HEAD IN A TWIST! IT CANT BE THAT BAD! AND IF IT IS, YOU SOUND LIKE THE KIND OF PERSON TO JUST GET ON WITH IT AND NOT LET ANYTHING STAND IN YOUR WAY (YOU ARE TRYING TO BECOME A CRIMINAL BARRISTER AFTER ALL!}

I hope you won't delete your blog Lost, it would be such a shame for a few to ruin it for so many readers.

for what its worth I hope you decide to continue.

But does it REALLY matter if someone rumbles you? We (allegedly) live in a democracy, free speech and all that.

So what if one or two things you say might ruffle a few feathers, keep blogging mate, let's face it, the Bar HAS GOT TO BE a more transparent profession if it is to survive and for you to shed a little light on the ups and downs of the rocky path to the Bar can do nothing but good IMO.

Minx - completly horrible when the complainant is being cross examined, and its being put to them that they are lieing, when it looks quite clear to everyone else that unless they are an amazing actor/ress that they aren't!

Katie - haven't heard back from Cambridge, my application is still being reviewed, in any event I am applying to do a masters in research at my current university.
Thanks Katie for your comments on my blog lol, It is a compliment that I am "sexy" I just wonder if it was a male or female reader ;)

Barmaid, Travis, CLG, Michael, - not sure if it is overkill, well probably is, sorry to cause a fuss and look like a huge drama fit throwing queen. Thing is I may be taking on more responsibilty next year whilst doing my masters if you get the hint ;) In any event due to people's comments I doubt I will be deleting the blog, I may just have to remove some posts/edit out anything that looks a little irresponsible!

Thank you all for your comments

"I just wonder if it was a male or female reader"

WHY! DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

ARE YOU SUGGESTING YOU WOULD BE FLATTERED IF IT WAS A GUY? BECAUSE YOU DONT SOUND GAY!
